A Message from the Search and Nominating Committee

The Search and Nominating Committee adds its sincere greeting and invites you to experience the Diocese of Idaho presented here in Our Profile. As you do, we ask that you remember a couple of facts. Our Profile was created primarily for potential nominees who might become the fifteenth bishop of the Diocese of Idaho.

We are aware, however, that at the conclusion of our search, the diocese will choose a bishop for the greater Church Universal and not only for itself. Having stated this, we welcome all who view the following inside and outside of the diocese: nominees, current and future bishops, ordained and laypersons.

The Search and Nominating Committee had invaluable and extensive assistance from the diocesan staff and we extend hearty thanks to them. Our Profile was completed in a timely manner because of them. However, our committee claims the final product; if there are mistakes, they are ours. We have gathered diocesan-wide resources created over the past eight months, combined them with demographic and other statistical information, and tried to add a sense of the heart and spirit of our diocese. Now molded into a whole, we hope you find the following to be understandable, honest and helpful.

We invite you to pray with us a Prayer for Transition included below. The work we undertake is important to the diocese, to the greater Church, and it is especially important to anyone who would consider a call to become bishop of the Diocese of Idaho.

A Prayer for Transition

Eternal Father, You that see our past and our future, and have come down to us in Your incarnate Word, that in His death and rising we may rise, and so return to You in His body, the Church: Come now and invade our unruly spirits with Your Spirit and bend our will to Your will, until with unusual wisdom we do discern and elect and set apart none but the one You call to be our bishop and shepherd and an icon of Your Son Jesus, who with You, in the unity of the same Holy Spirit oversees Your Church forever.  AMEN
